Heck, Microsoft is still dishing out sales on Xbox 360 games.

Nevertheless my message to you Jimmy is that not only keep those stores open, but give out sales on PS3 and Vita games.

PS2 I’m ok as it still works, sadly my PS1 not anymore.

Face it, we’ve been duped by Sony and now more than ever I fear for my PS3 & PS4 lifespan after learning about that.

It’s been a blessing in disguise not being able to get a PS5 and having to be content with my PS4 Pro, however I had already decided that I’ll be getting a Xbox Series X as games on the Xbox Store not only go for dirt cheap sometimes, but more so because of that CMOS battery issue. Also, the least said about Herman Hulst or whatever, the better. There’s nothing to “thank” here either than to acknowledge the fact that Jim shows he’s not always as stubborn as he usually is. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us – we’re always listening and appreciate the support from our PlayStation community. I’m glad that we can keep this piece of our history alive for gamers to enjoy, while we continue to create cutting-edge new game worlds for PS4, PS5, and the next generation of VR. We see now that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue purchasing classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to continue operations. When we initially came to the decision to end purchasing support for PS3 and PS Vita, it was born out of a number of factors, including commerce support challenges for older devices and the ability for us to focus more of our resources on newer devices where a majority of our gamers are playing on. So today I’m happy to say that we will be keeping the PlayStation Store operational for PS3 and PS Vita devices. PSP commerce functionality will retire on Jas planned. Upon further reflection, however, it’s clear that we made the wrong decision here. Even though the unsuspecting PS3 owners are innocent, it seems there's no way for Sony to detect the mix up without some sort of human-led investigation.Recently, we notified players that PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita devices was planned to end this summer. GUDGER666 speculated that hackers obtained PS3 ID numbers from a security breach in 2011, used those numbers to participate in malicious activity, then earned the true owners of the PS3's a lifetime ban in the process. Instead, the console ID itself was banned. The ban wasn't tied to GUDGER666's PlayStation Network profile, as they successfully logged onto a second PS3. GUDGER666 tried to log on to their PS3 one day, only to find out they'd been banned by Sony.

Also seen people saying they have seen an increase in people selling PS3 IDs for cheap." Then, something strange happened that sent GUDGER666 straight to the PlayStation community for help. Since that breach occurred, GUDGER666 explained that they'd seen "an increase in people saying they have been banned when they have done nothing. User GUDGER666 began the thread by providing some context for the board, citing a Spanish-language YouTube video by TheWizWiki which discussed a massive data breach that leaked PS3 console IDs onto the internet. The PSNProfiles discussion board recently played host to an intense conversation about the state of PS3s. Now, an entirely different sort of issue - this time involving the PS3 - has fans concerned that their consoles might be banned from PlayStation Network forever, cutting them off from their favorite older games. Hackers first reported that PS4s around the world could break at any minute, thanks to an issue with the system's internal clock and how the console processes trophies. Owners of older PlayStations aren't having a great time.
